A Bit of Church History On Our 30th Anniversary Read PDF Transcript Here This Sunday, May 11, marks exactly 30 years since the faithful founders of our parish embarked on their journey into the Orthodox Church—before St. Nicholas Church even had a name.
Back then, we had no building, no missals, no
formal identity. We left behind the familiarity of Holy Trinity but carried with us a steadfast faith that God would guide us. All we had were a few sacred remnants—some icons, a couple of statues—but the most precious treasure of all was our parish family. We stepped forward in hope, knowing that this road, though uncertain, was blessed.
The article recounts part of our story, but each of us who
were there holds personal memories of that time—full of excitement and hour-by-hour uncertainty. How would things unfold? Where would this path lead?
That day culminated in a celebration potluck—not in our old parish building, but in Holy Trinity Greek Church, where doors were opened through the kindness of new neighbors and the intervention of Metropolitan Philip and Archbishop Anthony. It was a day of faith in action—a
testament to God’s providence.
"Through it all, the Lord led us, just as He continues to do today. And for me, at least, an enduring gratitude remains for St. Michael’s in Whittier, who allowed us to “borrow” Fr. Michael Trigg for this journey. As he once said, we have found the rock.
Let us never be discouraged."

An Invitation to Support Our Beloved Church and Clergy
Saint Nicholas created three important reserve funds:
|
- Clergy Travel Expense Fund—This fund covers the monthly travel expenses of our priest-in-charge, Fr. Fenton, and Deacon Elijah.
- New Priest Reserve
Fund – Each month, 25% of our net operating reserves will be set aside in anticipation of welcoming a new priest. When a permanent priest is assigned to our parish, these funds will help cover moving and travel expenses, housing allowances, insurance, and professional needs.
- Maintenance Reserve Fund –
We are currently obtaining estimates for:
- A fence around our parking lot
- A fence around our church property
- Sprinkler system repairs
|
- Given recent and concerning activity in our neighborhood, we believe it is necessary to enhance our security by pairing our new video surveillance system with fenced-in parking and church grounds, secured with locked gates.
Additionally, damage to our sprinkler system has been discovered. To
ensure the upkeep of our grounds and foliage, prompt repairs are needed.
With your generous support, we can fund these vital improvements and continue fostering the spiritual growth and well-being of our beloved Saint Nicholas Orthodox community. All donations, no matter the amount, are a cherished blessing and deeply appreciated.
Together, we can strengthen and sustain our parish.
